In Magic: The Gathering Team Trio (or Team Trios) events, teams of three players compete against one another. While each player plays an individual match, match results contribute to the collective team score, and teammates can actively assist each other throughout the tournament.

1
Basic Structure

• Team Lineup: Each team consists of 3 players designated as Player A, Player B, and Player C.
• Seating: Teams sit directly opposite each other (A vs A, B vs B, C vs C). Seating order is registered before round 1 and cannot be modified throughout the event.
• Round Win: A team wins the round if at least two of its players win their individual match (a 2–1 or 3–0 result equally counts as 1 team win).

2
Communication and Teammate Assistance

The core highlight of this format:

• Consultation: Teammates are free to talk during games. They can discuss complicated board states, aid in key decisions (mulligans, blocking, stack sequencing), and look at each other’s hands.
• Time Limit: Despite discussions, round time (50 minutes) is identical to standard individual events. If teams deliberate excessively, judges may issue Slow Play penalties.
• Finished Players: Once a player finishes their own match, they may sit alongside and advise their teammates while their matches are underway.

3
Deck Construction Rule (Team Unified)

Across all team members’ decks (including sideboards), no card other than Basic Lands may be shared. (For example, if Player A runs 1–4 copies of Lightning Bolt, Players B and C cannot register any copies of Lightning Bolt in their decks).
